1910s BLISS PAPER OVER WOOD SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET FOR CORK GUN TOY HOUSE
Price: US $119.85
Very rare and wonderful, ca1910\'s Chromolithograph Paper over Wood, Mechanical Pop Gun / Cork Gun Shooting Gallery Target Toy by R. Bliss Manufacturing Company of Pawtucket, Rhode Island (or possibly by W. S. Reed Toy Company).

This charming Bliss Shooting Gallery Target Toy is manufactured in the form of the front of a Victorian House. There is an open window to the left with a \"Puss-n-Boots\" style Cat looking out. When this Cat \"target\" is hit, it flips backward on a spring tension hinge and the image of the Cat is replaced by that of a little girl holding a rose and looking out the window. If hit again the Cat again replaces the Girl and so on!!!

This fantastic Bliss Paper over wood Shooting Gallery Target Toy measures approx. 9\" wide by 11\" tall. It features a wooden faceplate with chromolithographed paper pastedown on the front surface and the hinged \"target\" boards are also paper over wood. It appears as if the Target originally had some type of easel form stand attached at the back but this support is lacking.

We have been dealing in antique Toys for 37+ years now and have never seen this Shooting Gallery Target Toy before - we could find no information about this or any similar Toy of the period and believe it to be exceptionally rare. While the Toy is neither dated nor signed by the manufacturer, the manner of construction leads us to believe that it was likely manufactured as by Bliss or Reed.

This rare and wonderful, Chromolithographed Paper-Over-Wood, Mechanical Pop Gun / Cork Gun Shooting Gallery Target Toy displays in very good condition. The paste down, chromolithograph surface exhibits soiling and some paper loss at the edges but the colors are well preserved and the Target displays nicely. The springs that return the target panels when hit are a bit stretched out but the mechanism still works. As stated above, it appears that the Target once had some type of folding easel support on the back which is lacking. Please see the scans below for a good representation of the condition of this rare, early 20th century Shooting Gallery Target Toy.

An exceptionally rare and quite wonderful, ca1910\'s Chromolithograph Paper over Wood, Mechanical Pop Gun / Cork Gun Shooting Gallery Target Toy and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
