Up for sale is a 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition medal, issued as the official medal of the exposition, held in San Francisco.Description: It is made from bronze, and measures approximately 38mm in diameter. It is listed in Hibler-Kappen as HK-400, the official medal in bronze, possibly statuary bronze or oxidized bronze.
It is listed as SH 18-1, either statuary bronze or oxidized bronze (probably) in the new So-Called Dollars from the Pacific Coast Expositions by Shevlin & Hyder. The book also shows the original advertisement for the various bronze varieties.
It has been graded at MS62 and encapsulated. NGC's Coin Census does not note a difference between 4 different varieties of bronze, which are listed in the new book. Condition: Nice condition with some fairly dark toning to the brass. A hint of shine remains at a portion of the outlines.
