1916 \"Rudolph Wurlitzer\" Violin w/ Original Case & Bow. 4/4. Recently Serviced.
Price: US $256.00
Travel back in time with this antique violin. The inner label identifies it as being made, and signed, by Rudolph Wurlitzer himself in Cincinnati in 1916. With a body of about 14\" and an overall length of about 23-1/2\", it is a full-sized 4/4 violin. I got it from an older fellow who inherited in from his grandmother. She played mandolin, accordion, and fiddle, and performed on the edges of vaudeville in the early 20th century. In the 1950s, she gave music lessons in Cincinnati. The violin does come with some old paperwork of hers, teaching receipts, from the College of Music of Cincinnati in the 1950s. I took the instrument to Ray Lewkowicz, aka the Violin Doctor, here in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He said it was a \"pretty decent violin\" and \"really good shape, except for the cracks.\" So, I had him repair several cracks in the top; rehair the bow; put on new Red Label strings; clean it; replace a tuner; and fit a new bridge. Newly rehaired, the bow, according to Ray, has \"a good bend.\" It is now a lovely instrument. It does come in the original Bull\'s Head case. It is ready to play. There is a little bit of hesitation in the D-string, but that should pass. It will be shipped in brand new cardboard 31” by 19” by 7” box with plenty of new 1/2\" bubble wrap. Questions?
