Make sure to check out all of my sales after you\'ve looked at this one. I\'m listing another eclectic selection of antiques and collectibles, and I suspect that there will be something of interest to just about everybody.Here\'s a Giblin RadioEar crystal receiver manufactured in 1920 by the Standard Radio & Electric Co. of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Standard made two versions of this radio -- a basic small box version and a deluxe, large box version. This is the latter of the two -- the deluxe set. As you can see, the radio is seated inside a moat, which can be used to store the coil and the headset.
Condition is excellent throughout. The panel is nearly flawless, with no blemishes of any type. The original crystal detector is complete and working properly. The pointer is clean, with excellent nickel plating. The dial markings are all crisp and legible. The chassis is likewise is in excellent condition, with no repairs or damage. Original buzzer assembly is still intact, as is the original buzzer battery. Cabinet is complete, with its original finish intact. Some finish wear is evident, and a there\'s a hairline crack that\'s an artifact of age, but no significant issues are plaguing any aspect of this set. The original Giblin RadioEar cabinet decal is complete and intact, with some minor marks but scarring. All tongue in groove joints are tight, with no gaps or warping. Cabinet hardware is all original, with no damage. The buzzer adjustment hole on the side of the cabinet is the factory correct size. It has not been widened or otherwise altered. The instruction sheet is clean and flat, with no stains or damage. I purchased this set from a veteran radio collector a few years ago, and he thought the instruction sheet might be an old photo-replica, but it sure looks original to me. If it is a replica, it\'s absolutely identical to the Real McCoy.
The coil is in good condition, with normal wear but no damage. It\'s winding is continuous. The Balwin headphones are in excellent condition, and the drivers are good. The headset works great.
That\'s about it. I will pack everything carefully and properly, and Ican assure you that it willshow upat your doorstepin the samefine condition in whichits leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my response, you\'ll see that I know how to do it correctly.
