Description:

From our Hill-Fulper-Stangl Museum archival collection, a Stangl Pottery #1902 miniature vase once belonging toChristl Stangl herself. Thisis one of a large group of miniature vases purchased many years ago at Christl & Merrill Bacheler\'s own garage sale. The Bacheler\'s 20+ years as managers of the Stangl Flemington Outlet store gave them many opportunities to add to their extensive Stangl Pottery collection. In their later years, Christl and Merrill\'s annual Flemington garage sales were famous for the wonderful Stangl and Fulper rarities that could be found there!

The novelty #1902 miniaturevase jug was introduced in 1938 and produced through 1945. Christl had told us that when she was first married, she had a large whatnot shelf where she displayed these miniatures. She went on to explain that many were token bridal shower gifts from Stangl Pottery employees, and that over the yearsshe would add to the collection whenever she found a shape or glaze she didn\'t already have.

Thevase measures1 7/8\" high and2\" diameter and 2 7/8\" handle-to-spout. Bottom is marked \"1902 U.S.A.\", and still retains its original Stangl Pottery gold foil paper label!

A Few Notes Regarding the Hill-Fulper-Stangl Potteries Museum:

The Hill-Fulper-Stangl Potteries Museum Display was housed in the original Stangl Pottery educational display kiln at the old Fulper Pottery factory building in Flemington, NJ from April 2000 through April 2005. At that time, the building was owned by Pfaltzgraff Pottery of York, PA and operated as a retail factory outlet showroom.

The Hill-Fulper-Stangl Museum Display expanded on the original Stangl Pottery educational display by exhibiting over 150 years’ of company output ~ beginning with Hill Pottery 1830s-era earthen vessels and drain pipe up through Stangl’s Town & Country dinnerware of the late 1970s. This was the same kiln remembered fondly by shoppers visiting Stangl’s factory showroom during the 1950s-1960s.

The very popular Hill-Fulper-Stangl Museum Display was a favorite destination for Stangl collectors from across the nation, and had even been visited by international students of pottery craft.

The Museum is now closed permanently due to the sale of the Pfaltzgraff Company and closure of their retail stores.
