Original and very rare, 1931 Norman Rockwell Coca-Cola Tin Lithographed \"Barefoot Boy and Dog\" Advertising Serving Tray.
This very rare and original, 1931 Coke Serving Tray measures 10 1/2” by 13 1/4” and features a portrait of a barefoot Farm Boy seated on the ground and leaning against a tree with a sandwich in his left hand and a classic, 10 ounce bottle of Coca-Cola in his right. The Boy\'s dog sits at his feet staring at his master and likely hoping for a crumb of the sandwich to fall to the ground. The Tray is known to collectors as the \"Barefoot Boy\" Tray and carries the signature of the artist - Norman Rockwell - in the plate. There is text at the top and the bottom of the Tray on the raised rim that reads simply “Drink Coca-Cola”.
This rare and original Norman Rockwell Coca-Cola Advertising Tray is not a reproduction, reissue or restrike but is an original 1931 Serving Tray manufactured by The American Art Works for Coca-Cola in 1931. It is unconditionally guaranteed to be original and of the period!!!
The Tray is in very good condition - the lithography is generally clean and crisp - the colors bright and vibrant and the Tray displays beautifully. There are no significant scratches, scuff marks or surface nicks to the image area although there are a handful of small and light surface blemishes. The surface retains it brilliant surface shine and the Tray displays beautifully. There are a small number of nicks to the surface paint along the rolled rim as well as some very small and unobtrusive scratches and blemishes to the raised rim. The back side of the tray has some light surface wear and light surface oxidation.
