1940 Scott Philharmonic, 30 Tube, Chrome Chassis, Working Condition
Price: US $4600.00

You are offerding on a 1940 Scott Philharmonic Receiver. It is complete having been ordered with all options available at the time. Thisincludes the pair of special Scott highfrequency speakers, model 5B833 and the very rare Scott Patented baffle for theMagnavox 15\" speaker. The receiver, power supply/amplifier chassis and speakersare housed in a Warrington Cabinet.

Also included is a set of documentation whichincludes a Scott detailed description of the custom built 1940 Philharmonic,The Scott Tuning Guide (circa 1940), the original Scott Instruction Manual and theScott Technical Service Manual for the Scott Philharmonic Receiver. This lastdocument includes schematics, part locations, trouble shooting data, parts lists and alignment procedures. TheInstruction Manual is a must read for any owner of a Scott Philharmonic.

Although the overall physical condition of this 76 year old receiver and cabinet is good it is far fromperfect. Every attempt has been made to show all cabinet and chassis chromedefects in the attached photos. Please study them carefully. The cabinet tophas a large major scuff which has only removed the finish and has not damagedthe wood. This scuff is clearly shown in the photos.

There is some chrome damage on both the receiver andpower supply/ amplifier assemblies. Likewise bout 30 % of the vacuum tube andcoil cans show some corrosion defects. I would conservatively rate the overall chrome appearance a 7 out of10. Since the worst case damage is on the sides of the receiver chassis it isnot visible when the chassis is in the cabinet.

The power amplifier/ power supply has beencompletely rebuilt. All filter capacitors and power resistors have beenreplaced. The receiver has been repaired with all electrolytic capacitorsreplaced. It functions properlyreceiving all local am stations. No claim is made that it has been tested andverified to meet all specified performance parameters as defined in the Scott technicalmanual.

This receiver has a phonograph input which we haveused to connect apple devices like an iTouch or iPad. Much time has been spentlistening to Pandora on the Scott. The sound is great and impressive to thosewho have never seen or heard a 76 year old working Scott Philharmonic. I caninclude the Apple interface if the buyer would like.

Due to its weight, size and high risk of shippingdamage the buyer must make arrangements for local pickup. No shipping can beoffered.

Good luck and thank you very much for offerding.
