It\'s my pleasure to offer at sale an ExtremelyNice and quite Scarce 1946 WRIGHT & McGILL GRANGER No.8642 \"CHAMPION\" 8-1/2 FT., 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH NEW BAG & ORIGINAL LABELED FIBER TUBE. The Granger \"Champion\" was only produced forone yearby the Wright & McGill Co. of Denver, following their takeover of the Goodwin Granger Co. immediately after WWII. Offered only in 1946, it would be replaced by the \"Stream & Lake\" model the following year. Rod shaft is ink-stamped \"Granger Champion\" on one flat and \"Wright & McGill\" along another. The reel seat is stamped \"PAT. APR. 12, 1938 - PAT. NO. 2,114,107 - MADE BY WRIGHT & McGILL ROD CO. - DENVER, COLO. U.S.A.\". Made with nice Tonkin cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, Garnix stripping guide, steel snake guides, Perfection tip tops, nickel silver ferrules & winding check, Granger screw-locking reel seat, solid cork reverse half-Wells grip and wound in red silk tipped in black. Rod is in about Very Fine condition for these, showing only light wear. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. All sections are the correct equal length and are reasonably straight. Original varnish remains nice overall, showing just a few nicks here and there, with a few small areas of thinning. Rod shaft markings are pristine. All the wraps are solid and complete. All guides, tip tops, ferrules and winding check are in fine condition. Reel seat works perfectly, with bold stamping. Solid cork grip is in superb condition. Put up in a new bag and the original labeled fiber tube. The tube is also very nice, showing a few touched up areas, but is completely damage-free. Carries about a 90% complete paper label, which is correctly marked for the rod. The cap screws on tightly and securely. One of the finer Granger fiber tubes that I\'ve seen.
