1950s KENWORTH CBE & DOUBLES, SITES FREIGHT LINES, MEDFORD, OR 8x10 GLOSSY PHOTO
Price: US $10.99

This photo is an excellent high quality 8” x 10” color new glossy photo reproduction of a Mid-1950’s KENWORTH CBE (CAB-BESIDE-ENGINE) Tractor pulling ‘Oregon’ Doubles operated by SITES FREIGHT LINES.

”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image. Laying the “SAMPLE” sheet over the photo for the scan, causes the image to be slightly yellowed. Your photo reproduction will be pure black & white with no yellow cast.

DESCRIPTION: The bright yellow-and-green trucks of SITES FREIGHT LINES were a common sight in Oregon during the “Golden Years of Trucking”. This 1950s KENWORTH CBE (Cab-Beside-Engine) tractor is pulling a set of UTILTY Doubles. Developed by KW in 1953, the single seat/half cab-beside-engine offered excellent visibility and a short BBC. The KW in this photo appears to be carrying a 1954 license plate. Not much is known about the SITES’ KW CBE’s, but Yellow Transit ran a large fleet of these tractors powered with 175-hp turbo-supercharged diesel engines, the lightweight JT-6 Cummins. This photo has a white border on all 4 sides.

SITES FREIGHTLINES: In the mid-1950’s this Oregon based 160-unit carrier was serving 84 Oregon communities, running 1,135,000 miles a year through the Cascade Mountains and the Columbia River Gorge. Herman Sites was President. I have a Dupont Dulux enamel magazine ad featuring a similar SITES KW CBE pulling doubles, promoting their Dulux paint to withstand the tough Oregon weather conditions. Apparently SITES was an Oregon intrastate carrier. The trailers advertise “Friendly Service” serving “Portland, The Dulles, Hermiston, Pendleton, La Grande, Baker, & Enterprise.”

This photo has been printed on excellent quality HP PREMIUM PLUS GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER using HP 02 Vivera Inks, producing a professional quality photo that resists fading over 100 years ... the best money can buy. This 8x10 photo has a white border around the photo. For your information, the description and documentation of this photo will be loosely taped to the back side of this photo. I try to ad some “added value” to my photos by researching each one, adding some history and information that you may not know. If I get something incorrect, please let me know … thanks!
