This pattern makes 3 dresses, a formal, a pinafore, vest, 2 piece pajamas, robe, panties, bra and petticoat. There is a gorgeous evening dress trimmed in lace.The other three dresses are knee length and areall variations of the same pattern. The first dress has a ruffle at the bottom edge of the skirt. The second dress is worn with a vest over it. The third dress is worn with a pinafore over it. Also included are: the pajama top and bottoms,robe,panties, bra and petticoat. The GinnyDoll was made starting in 1951 by the Vogue Doll Company. The history of the doll is that the company was originally opened in 1922 and made clothes for bisque dolls. Up until that time most dolls came dressed simply and were not sold with other outfits. The Vogue Doll Company sold beautiful clothing for the dolls of the day: bisque dolls in the 1920s and 30s, and composition dolls in the 1930s and 40s. This started the business that would lead them to become "Fashion Leaders in Doll Society". The concept of dressing dolls in beautiful clothing and providing them with extra outfits is what set the Vogue Doll Company apart fromall others and ithelped make theGinny Doll a huge success following her release in 1951. Here was finally an unbreakable plastic doll made by a company that alsoreleased dozens of new exquisite outfitsfor sale every year. Due to Ginny's popularity,pattern companies made patternsso thatmothers and their daughters could make additional outfits for these darling dolls. Due to Ginny's popularity, other doll companies came out with their own 8" tall dolls. Madame Alexander made the Wendy, Wendy-Kins, Wendy-Ann andAlexander Kins dolls. Nancy AnnStorybook Dolls (NASB) made the Muffiedolls.A&H Doll Corporation made the Marcie dolls. Cosmopolitan Doll and Toy Corporation made the Ginger dolls.
