1960s style 3 CF Martin & Co. Soprano ukulele uke body NOS luthier nr
Price: US $110.50

KovacikGuitars offers this new old stock 1960s era Martin soprano ukulele body that wasobtained from the shop of a retired factory employee (Paul Berger)who worked at Martin from the 60s-90s. The body was assembled at the Martin factory but never completed, I suspect that the binding was done at the shop of the employee/luthier who obtained the body from Martin. The body is all mahoganyand exhibits typical Martin construction inside and out. The lowerbout width is 6 7/16”, upper bout is 5 1/16”, length is 9 7/16”,depth at the dovetail block is 2” and the depth at the end block is2 5/16”. It is stamped with the Martin stamp inside the back andhas the “Made in USA” stamp, which would date it post 1963. Thebinding is white with 4 ply black/white/black/white purfling, whichdoesn't match style 3 perfectly, as style 3 has 5 ply purfling, butit is closer to style 3 than any other binding style. The pearlaccent at the center joint of the top is not Martin spec, and I canonly assume that this was done by the luthier from which I obtainedthe body. Some of the binding is loose and will need to be reglued. One of the back braces is loose on one end but all of the rest of thebraces seem solid. The body is free of cracks or any damage of anykind. The body has some glue slop from the gluing of the bindingthat needs to be cleaned up and also some dirt and staining from whoknows what, but it looks like it'll clean up well with a little lightsanding and scraping of the binding.
