WorldwideThis is a very scarce toy, especially in Near Mint condition in a great condition ORIGINAL BOX with all inserts.Sears Exclusive ARCTIC EXPLORER SLED made by Bandai Japan in the very early 60\'s (made only 1 year...1961 !). It is all tin litho construction including the smaller friction powered Scout Sled. These toys are very tough to find in this condition with clean box and inserts.
A large 16\" catamaran style pressed steel vehicle with side wings and propellers. This unusual vehicle has 2 long pontoons joined by a red central platform and topped with a futuristic wing-like bridge structure. In the command center, under a lighted clear canopy dome are 6 pilot/operators and all sorts of high tech machine litho for the operation of the Space Sled.
Battery operated and powered by 2 \"D\" cell batteries inserted into battery box under the toy, there are many complex actions. Upon sliding the ON/OFF switch into ON position the toy powers up by starting the propellers, the front blue lights start to flash and the toy moves forward in a circular pattern. The size and direction of the pattern can be adjusted using the positionable front wheel.Then the toy stops, including the propellers and the lights continue to flash...presumably arrived at its\' destination to release the smaller removable friction powered Scout Sled which hangs on the rear of the toy. It is also tin litho and measures 4.5 inches long with propeler.
As is normal with this toy, there are areas around the tips of each nose cone on which factory touch up is present. The antenna in front does not rotate and box does not indicate that it is supposed to. perhaps a small rubber divet is misplaced.The toy itself is Near Mint and any small scratches present are factory as this toy was not played with.The original box is a strong and solid C-8 The top of the box has a few very cleanly repaired tears and one on side...please see pics. These large boxes for this toy rarely survived in nice condition....
