Description

HERE IS AN UNBELIEVABLE FIND!

Here is a rare original November 1969 Schwinn Stingray \"PEA PICKER\" 20\" Stingray Krate bike. (LE52228 Serial Number) This bike is from the era when most everything was cool! (the HEMICUDA, Mach 1 Mustang, and Camaro Z-28 come to mind!)

*This is agruably one of the very COOLEST Schwinn bikes of all time! EVERY kid wanted one back in the day... few were lucky enough to own one. You did not see them often back in the day, and almost NEVER see them in any condition these days! They were designed after the drag racing muscle cars of the time! They hit the nail on the head with this one! They are SO cool!

*The bike is LOADED with cool options only found on the top of the line \"Krate\" series at the time. The bike has the cool correct \"cantalever\" 5-speed Schwinn frame, cool wide apehanger handlebars, matching green Schwinn hand grips, chrome Schwinn SPRINGER front forks, cool Schwinn BOW pedals, 5-speed \"Mag\" sprocket, chrome front and rear fenders, cool rear SHOCKS sissy bar and so much more! It has the cool Schwinn front rim with the correct ATOM drum brake. The rear wheel is a 5-speed Schwinn S-2 rear wheel. Both front and rear tires hold air. The front tire is a Schwinn Superior. The rear is a raised white letter SLICK tire! (see pics and be your own judge) The tires show age, but hey, so do I! :)

*I dont know where you would find another like it! It is awesome! This one has its original screen PEA PICKER chainguard! The bike is an original 5-speed STICK SHIFT with operable hand controlled brakes. It shifts and brakes. The stick shifter has the original overload tube in place. Check out how nice the decals on the shifter are! I am 99% sure they are the ones the bike was born with and are NICE! This bike has been in very long term storage and cannot wait to be enjoyed once again! The bike appears to be 100% original parts from when it was new! (see pics and be your own judge) I dont know if anything has EVER been taken apart on this one! This is the MOST PURE Krate I have ever found! I LOVE the Pea Picker seat! YES, it is original, its not worn, its not ripped! It has the Stingray tag on the rear as well as the reflector tab with reflector! WOW! (most anyone with a nice original would love to have that alone! This is a total package!)

*THIS BIKE has a cool history! I bought this one right out of the city of Chicago last year from a clean dry city basement. This bike has NEVER left the city of Chicago until I purchased it! The story that came with this one is a guy bought it for his kid new. He was 15+ years old and was ready to get his license. The bike was stored away and never really used very much since new. Consequently, it is in relatively nice unrestored condition as you can see! Bikes like this rarely come along in any condition. ESPECIALLY one that has not traded numerous times amongst collectors. Be the first to get this one out in the light and enjoy it. To me, this one is a TIME CAPSULE! I had a very hard time deciding to part ways with this one. I get so excited just looking at this one! I came very close to putting this one in my own collection. Most of these were beaten, abused, left outside, and thrown away decades ago. Finds like this almost NEVER come along these days! I hope you enjoy it!

*I consulted with a local Schwinn guy who I would consider an expert on Krate bikes. He said this is the earliest version of a 1970 he has ever seen! (has the 70 shifter, raised white letter slick etc) BUT the bike was made in November of 1969! HOW COOL IS THAT! I added a pic of the 1970 Schwinn Catalog just so you can compare. (see last pic, this is an image from the web and is for reference only)

*AS FAR AS I CAN TELL every single part on this bike is original from when this one was born new in Chicago! (see pics and be your own expert) I got it just like you see it. I took a TON of pics and have nothing to hide. Check them all out and be your own judge. I dont want you to get the bike, then nit pick things to try to get a better deal after the fact. The pics get very large when you click them to show tons of detail. I want you to be excited, confident in your purchase, and enjoy your new vintage bike! I have absolutely nothing to hide. No, it is not new in the box or NOS but is a very nice unrestored unmolested example of a krate you could ever ask for!

*AS A FREE BONUS, I am including a 1970 Schwinn Krate manual. I had it in my stash and its probably a reprint. It is NOT the one that this bike was born with but it makes a nice display along with the bike! Its a free bonus for buying this awesome bike!

*My guy did a very basic cleaning on this one. With a good deep detailing, this one will be a show stopper!

*Now is your chance to own one of the COOLEST bikes EVER MADE! Make someone in your life happy with this one. This is a cool bike that you can enjoy for years! It is money in the bank and will only go UP in value! You RARELY find these bikes anymore! They were all abused and thrown away back in the 1970s-80s. Finding one these days is a big challenge. If you check out , the selection on any 1960s Stingray bikes is very little. They are very cool and people enjoy owning, riding, and displaying them! Most people do not sell these bikes once they have them. Be the first to get this bike back out in the light and have fun with it! I believe this to be a fairly nice original unmolested bicycle unless otherwise noted.

*NOTED FLAWS It is not 100% flawless but is NICE for its age! The paint looks fairly good for a 45+ year old boys bike! (yes, it has chips scratches etc but is better than almost every one that I have seen over the years) The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. (seems every used bike out there does too) This is a great find! ENJOY! If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you offer.

*These bikes are cool! They are only original once! This is the finest unrestored Krate I have ever found! (I have owned many Krate bikes over the years) This one deserves to be in a museum. Take it to a car show or cruise night! People remember these but never see them these days! People will talke about you and your cool bike for years! ENJOY THIS ONE!

*Sorry for the LONG description, these bikes really excite me. This awesome ride starts low with ABSOLUTELY so offer early and don\'t miss out! This will sell to the high buyer! Sorry, no buy it now is offered. People will ENVY you when you ride by at a car show or on the street with this bike! Sold as is because it is used. I try to list anything I notice with the bike. Keep in mind this is a vintage bike that has probably not been ridden for a while so it may need minor tuning, bearings greased, polishing, etc, These bikes are getting harder to find and are more popular than ever before! You will enjoy owning, riding, and displaying it for years! People always remember these bikes but seldom see them in person. Your new vintage bike will be shipped partially disassembled in a factory bike box. I take them in to have them packaged so they almost always arrive in the same condition as they left us. You may want to consider insurance, just in case. Once it has shipped, I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items without insurance.
