Antenna gain is the key for the transmission range. Theoretically every 6dBi gain increase will double the transmission range. Compared to other products in the market, this unit has the highest gain and more than 16 times longer range.
This unit is fully weather-proof, ideal for outdoor using. Outdoor use is very important to long range transmission of 2.4Ghz signal, we recommend you mount it outside to get clear line of sight(be sure to seal the coax cable connector with electric tape and outdoor silicone after installation).
The unit is very easy to use. Use the 25\' coax cable connect the antenna to the RPSMA antenna port of the 1000mW WIFI adapter, point the antenna to the direction of the network. If possible, mount the antenna somewhere with clear line of sight to the networks you are goint to connect, such as on the roof or a pole(20\' high for optimum result). On the computer side, connect the USB cable(supplied) from the computer to the 1000mW WIFI adapter, load the driver from the CD(supplied). Now you can enjoy the longest range WIFI Internet.
For your convenience, we also supply a 5dBi rubber dock antenna. When you are using the 1000mW WIFI adapter for short range, you may unscrew the coax cable, screw the small antenna on. You don\'t need it when you are using the 20.5dBi antenna.

Important facts you should know before offer:
This outdoor 20dBi antenna is directional, that means it only cover an narrow angle. When use it, you have to point it to the source with the white plastic side, not the metal side. With the connector point to the ground, it is a vertical polarized setup. Turn it 90 degrees, it will become horizontal polarized setup.To avoid possible network setting problem, plug it into the laptop, disable the built-in wireless card of the laptop, use the stock 5dBi antenna, go very close to the basestation router. Make sure it work, then bring it to the remote location, change the antenna back to the high gain 20dBi antenna. Turn the unit to different direction, try to get the best effect. While scan the network, don\'t more the unit.
Line of sight and direction are the two key issues of using this antenna. Try it on a pole at least 20 feet high outdoor, or by the second floor window with the glass up, you will see the difference. The antenna has to be at upright position, with the white plastic side facing the signal, connector pointing to the ground.
Ifyou need aUSB extensioncable, make sure usea USB \"active\" extension cable (also known as a USB repeater cable). This cable contains active electronics which boost the USB signal for maximum reliability and performance over extended distances. Those passive cable won\'t work on long length. Range test result is based onsame unit on each end, in clear line of sight. Because every application is different, we can\' guarantee the result. For long range link(>1Km, or 0.6 mile), we recommend you install external antenna for the router side.
