This $1 Australian 2017-P Silver 1 oz. Dragon and Phoenix is the latest bullion issue of the Perth Mint. Its maximum mintage of just 50,000 and powerful symbolism based in the mythology of the world's largest nation is sure to make this an attractive choice for serious collectors. It was struck from .9999 fine silver at the Perth Mint, which is represented by the "P" Mint mark.

Stunning Dragon and Phoenix design

As with other issues of the Perth Mint, this coin features Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. She is shown wearing a tiara and earrings. Inscriptions along the rim include her name, "ELIZABETH II," as well as statutory information about the coin.

The reverse features the two mythological creatures on either side of a flaming pearl, which is at the center. The smiling dragon extends its claws out in front of it as the phoenix feathers extend out along the rim. Stylized clouds create a unique sky background.

Upon carefully examining this coin, graders at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) determined that it is flawless. Accordingly, they awarded it their highest grade, Mint State 70.
