Drop forged over 100 years ago in a Sabatier factory in Thiers France from virgin steel (Not recycled steel like is used today) These pieces are a real find. They were located in a warehouse owned by a gentleman who purchased an entire Elephant Sabatier factory in Thiers France years ago, had the entire contents loaded into containers and shipped over here.
This is for a lot of five 10 inch super hefty chef\'s knife blanks.These blanks are straight from the forge, the edges on the blades have not been ground or worked in any way. The blades measures 10.25 X 2.25 inches and is a whopping 1/4 inch thick at the bolster. This blade reminds me of a “Lobster Splitter”, ½ Cleaver ½ Chefs Knife. The blade is not marked. The overall length of this knife blank is 15.25 inches. Total weight is 15.25 oz. This blank is virgin forged, the edge on this blade has not been ground or worked in any way.
Please check my other listings I now have Original Sabatier Brass Rivets to go along with these blanks. The 5/16th Rivets would work best with this blank.

Please note that just like the finished Sabatier Chef’s Knives of this period some of these blanks have slight bends or misalignments. The French refer to the misalignment issue as a “feature” of handmade knives and not a “defect”. I always cherry pick each blank for straightness before shipping but if one gets by me and you receive one that has a slight bend it can easily be straightened by holding it with the flat of your hand against a surface and giving it a light tug.
