The CoCo XT uses the same type of hard drive controller that was used in many IBM clones back in the day. The controller includes a 2000 character disk buffer, which eliminates the need to stop the computer while accessing the hard disk. This is referred to as the \'no halt\' operation. The housing of the CoCo XT holds the interface board and a hard disk controller.Controller supports 1 or 2 hard drives.Unit installs in any Multi-Pak (Multi-Pak required). A hard drive to connect to the unit was not available, thus testing was not perform. (We normally fully test all items we sell.) You should be an intermediate or advanced CoCoNut when deciding to offer on this product. The original hardware developer is still around, however, your best source for support will be the CoCo mailing list and the CoCo FaceBook page.
The housing was made with brush metal and thus, shows the typical scratches that brush metal picks up. The screws that hold the PCB were lost over time so you will need to ponder a method to hold the PCB securely. There are some CoCo users that can probably provide you with some images of what the original screws looked like. Obviously, the battery on the board should be replaced (used to store date/time on files.)
The floppy disk driver/software was not tested. Should it not work, you should visit the CoCo archive to look for the software.CoCo Community

Please Note
This unit was carefully packaged before being shipped. That said, the parts in this computer are over 30+ years so there is always potential for issues due to mother nature, father time and lazy UPS delivery people who throw boxes.
