Both compactflash and 1.8in PATA disc have the same number of pins, 50, spaces 1/20 inch in both cases, so perhaps I can just plug CF card into where 1.8 PATA disk belongs? No such luck, I learned you still need an adapter! So, when I needed to replace the disc in my tiny Fujitsu Lifebook P1610, I decided to buy an adapter to use with 16GB compactflash card.
I don\'t have where to plug that in anymore to test, so listing as \"for parts or not working\". With it, I include a 5GB microdrive (a tiny, 1-inch hard drive in the form factor of compactflash card.) That is a type II, thicker, 5-mm one; not all adapters accommodates that variety, but this one does. I don\'t have where to test that drive either.
The microdrive is manufactured in Singapore, the adapter most likely in China.
