This unit came to us without film holders and none are included.
We have thoroughly tested this unit with borrowed film holders and everything is working very smooth with excellent scan files produced (see sample photo of dragon - crop from a 4x5 neg). When we installed the FlexColor software, it indicated the last service date was 3/28/2006 and it has only 697 scans total. This number is accurate, and is verified by opening the \'about\' window, showing the total number of scans (see screenshots). Judging by the overall new appearance, it is likely this was purchased by a company and simply rarely used, so it’s as new as you’ll find without spending $16,395 on a brand new one. About the only visual defect we could find was it was missing one of the small rubber feet, which we replaced. The drum has been parked for transportation.
It comes with the dust cover, AC adapter (Kodak brand), a long Firewire 400-800 cable and complete service and operating manuals on a USB thumb drive. This scanner is ready for you to use in a professional production studio - it\'s the top of the line virtual drum scanner.
We have received several repeated questions about this scanner, which we will address here:
How many scans has this scanner produced?Just 697. We were able to verify this with the manufacturer. If you open the \'about\' window in the FlexColor software, it will show the total number of scans done. The service window will only show the number of scans made after the last service (which shows only 16 scans since the last service).
Are you the original owner? No, we purchased this as part of a large lot of photographic and electronic equipment. We unfortunately have no information about the history other than the last maintenance record, which is shown in one of the photos.
What are the shipping details?Shipping to the continental US is free via FedEx Ground or Home Delivery. Insurance is included. If you are located in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the price is shown in the shipping calculator - just input your correct ZIP code. We also offer overnight services if that is something you would like.
Do you offer local pick-up?Yes, we would be happy to schedule a local pickup. We are available normal business hours.
Are you accepting offers?Yes, we are. Other used units are regularly selling online from various sources for $8,000-13,000 with drastically-higher scan counts. Though it does not include film holders, these are only about $80 for the aftermarket ones.
Can this scanner be used with modern computers?Yes, it can. It has a FireWire 400 connection. If your computer doesn\'t have a FireWire port, you\'ll just need an adapter for the port you do have (i.e. ThunderBolt, USB-C, etc.) If you have a desktop, you can add a FireWire card. If you have a laptop or non-upgradeable desktop (like an iMac), you\'ll need to use an adapter instead.
Is the included crate acceptable for sending in for maintenance to the manufacturer? We had not considered this. We just assumed it would be, but others have said the original box needs to be used instead. The crate is exponentially stronger and longer lasting, so we would not understand why the manufacturer would not accept it. But maybe they have some issues we are not aware of. In any event, you could probably drop the crate out of the delivery truck on the freeway and the scanner would survive just fine. It\'ll make a nice stand in your studio. Shipping InfoUnit will be professionally packaged with ample padding in a large, heavy duty shipping crate (see photos). We used quality plywood and pine, 1 inch of hard styrofoam along with 4 inches of soft open cell foam around all sides. Shipping is via insured FedEx in the US. If you are located outside of the US and are interested in purchasing, please contact us with inquiries. Depending on your country, we may be able to ship this to you.Click here to view our current inventory.© Seattle Technology _gsrx_vers_823 (GS 7.0.12 (823))
