Senior PROM Capabilities and Description.A Senior PROM is a firmware device designed for use exclusively in the Apple //e computers .
It replaces your standard Apple Monitor ROM(s) with a small printed circuitry board. This doubles the amount of ROM (Read Only Memory)
in your computer, without consuming a peripheral card slot (on the //e) and without losing compatibility with ANY present or future Apple //e or //c programs.
The Senior PROM provides the following functions in ROM, where they are instantly available to the computer user at any time:* A complete menu of functions available from the Reset key:
- Ability to enter the system monitor at any time to move, examine, or alter programs.
- Reboot a diskette with destroying memory.
- Copy the entire contents of memory to auxilary memory.
- Move memory from the \"language card\" to accessible memory.
- Move memory from the auxiliary card to main memory.
- Write a \"test pattern\" into memory to study disk boots.
* Enter a complete set of DOS 3.3 RWTS-based utilities:
- Initialize diskettes.
- Copy diskettes.
- Enter ROM-resident Sector Editor and Memory detective.
- Disable RWTS error-checking to diagonse disk problems.
- Alter DOS recognition bytes to examine protected software.
* Non-maskable Interrupts fully supported which allows:
- Interrupt a program, view or change memory, and restart the program.
- Capture to a DOS 3.3 disk the entire 64k of Main RAM.
- The ability to re-load and restart a captured program up to 128k from disk.
- Release software from its protected disk.
- Swap back and forth between two program (using up to 64k each) instantly.
* Enhanced monitor capabilities that include:
- ASCII display conincident with disassembly or memory display, including 65C02 support.
- Full Step and Trace functions to examine, debug and correct assembly language programs.
- A \"Mini-Assembler\" that supports the 65C02
- Full support of screen editing commands and Ctrl-S commands
- Instant return to RWTS-based menu via Ctrl-C.
Since these functions are available in ROM, they are there when you need them, and are transparent when you don\'t.
The mere push of a switch and a press of a key will make these utilities appear. Likewise, push the switch again and press a key and they disappear!
