This sale is for the R3000A and R3010A wafer set shown. Both wafers were made at the Performance Semiconductor Fab and the Performance logo is on the wafer.The dynamic duo MIPS R3000A CPU (Central Processing Unit) and MIPS R3010A FPU (Floating Point Unit) were a very powerful combination in the early 1990s. These found their way into high performance Silicon Graphics workstations. They also became the building blocks of the famed Mongoose Processor used in space applications. The two components can again be seen combined as the powerful R3400 CPU in the DEC Station 5000 computer.Designed as a pipe-lined processor / co-processor set these can operate concurrently, which allows them execute multiple instructions at the same time. The co-processor alone can do up to three instructions simultaneously. Colors will change dramatically depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions.
