This Vintage Grid Gridcase 3 is a time capsule. It was engineered to military specs andwas built to last. It is a DOS command laptop. Being one of the first laptops,it was one of the best you could buy, and back in the day it would have set you back $4,500!

This laptop was prominently featured in the second of the\"Aliens\" movies as the controller for the Automatic Sentry Guns. Asthese have become increasingly rare, demand for period-correct computers onmovie sets is on the rise.

This laptop has a high-contrast gas-plasma display that appears tobe in perfect condition. It originally had a NiCad battery pack, which is stonedead, so not included. The included AC power supply which clicks into the battery bay workswell. Since this model wasn\'t ordered with a hard drive, it boots from the GridTerm floppy (included). However it has MS Word \"modules\" (see picture) which I assume is how these computers ran programs.

The overall working condition of this laptop appears to be fine.It boots up without issue and runs through the old DOS protocol. The\"a:/word\" command loads MS Word, but some supporting files appear tobe missing.

Most importantly, the cosmetic condition is EXCELLENT. Nosignificant scrapes, scratches or gouges with no signs of ever being dropped orabused. The matte black finish on the case is uniform and shows no signs ofage. All keys are in tact, have no signs of use and work. The screen has no scrapesor scratches. It looks great just sitting on display.

This is a significant piece for any collection, museum artifact,or a really cool WORKING office display. The fact that it boots up isdefinitely a plus.
