For sale here is a $1 Series 1977A Federal Reserve Note that is fresh as though it was printed yesterday. There is an error in the serial number which has one digit missing i.e., no ink was applied. The serial number on left has just enough ink applied that close inspection reveals the missing digit would have been a 1. So the serial number would have been H02999199*. So it is a fancy serial number star note with an error in Choice or Gem CU condition. There may be more of these around, but I do not recall having seen one before and it is for sale without reserve.
