We see a young man, looking at the camera, holding a rifle aloft. There’s a powder horn, another satchel, and a feather hangs from the barrel. On the floor, we see his best friend, the dog. We also see the prey, and it looks like a rabbit.Note the base of a posing stand by his feet.
SIZE. Sixth plate.
HOUSING. Split full case.
CONDITION. Resealed. Layer of tarnish gives it a sepia patina. Light mat abrasions. Very good condition.
APPEARANCE. Lots of content. Skin tones applied. Very good contrast. As can be expected from a standing person holding an object, he moved slightly. Bright image.
COMMENTARY. The note adds accuracy, but also a folksiness to the image. They support each other well.
