Adams Westlake 1864 Patent Railroad Conductor\'s Presentation Lantern Lamp 2
Price: US $281.00
Up for sale is this Railroad Presentation Lantern. It is marked The Adams Westlake Company, Pat. Apr. 26.64., Chicago, Ill on the bottom piece that the fount screws into. The burner is marked Beacon, and E. Miller & Co., Meriden, Conn. The fount itself is marked \"P Globe,\" and I am not sure why. The globe has \"P. Co.\" or P. Go.\" etched into the glass. Note the P on the globe has some light scratches through it. There are some very light chips on the bottom of the globe and no chips around the top. The lantern stands about 9 7/8 inches tall. The fount has a very small pin hole in the bottom. The burner needs a wick, but seems to be in good working order. The lantern stands up straight, the top opens and closes as it should, and the fount and bottom screw in easily and securely.
Please see photographs for condition of this piece. If you have any questions or would like to see additional photographs, please feel free to contact me.

A fellow er just contacted me regarding this piece and said that he believes the \"P. & Co.\" inscription on the globe stands for Pullman Co.
Obviously, noguaranteeson this, but I felt it should be added to the listing. Many thanks.

2nd Update: In light of this fellow er mentioning this lantern was possibly a Pullman Co. Lantern, I decided to look into this a little bit more. After doing a little more research on this lantern, I have decided to add two additional photographs. The first is of the bottom side of the lantern. The word \"PULLMAN\" is visible, spelled backwards underneath the bell. The stamp does not come through all the way to the top side of the bell. I know this is tough to see in the photo, it is tough to see in person as well, but there is no doubt that it is there.
I also added a more clear photo of the etching on the lantern\'s globe.
Lastly, I want to point out that there is some light cracking on one side of the lantern, by the holes in the chimney. This can be seen in the second and third photograph. It is a little tough to see in the photos, so I wanted to make sure any potential buyers were aware of this.
Thank you a let me know if there are any further comments or questions.
