Up for sale is an American Flyer Gilbert era prewar passenger set that includes a Pennsylvania Railroad 4-6-2 K-5 pacific steam locomotive and tender, # 494 baggage car and two # 495 coaches. As may be seen in the photos, this set is very nice. The loco is clean with few chips in the paint. The lettering on the tender is a little week but that is not uncommon. All of the die cast wheels are also in excellent condition. I track tested the locomotive and find it runs well in forward and reverse with the reversing unit working very well. The cars are in matching condition. The doors on the baggage car are a little dirty but not too bad. At first I thought the baggage might be partially repainted because of a run in the paint that can be seen near the top on one side of the car but upon closer inspection I believe it is original. The coaches also have good sides but one of the coaches that is on the bottom of the passenger car pile in the seventh photo has a long scratch on the roof. All of the wheels on the cars and tender have a light coating of rust but there is no rust on the bodies of any of the pieces. The loco box has all flaps and was factory taped shut on one end but the glue is giving way so while the tape is still there it has become mostly detached. The tender box is badly crushed and has no flaps. The baggage car box has flaps on one end and none on the other and the coach boxes have no flaps. While not perfect, this set would look good on a shelf and given the loco\'s performance would be great fun to run on a layout!Thanks for looking and good luck offerding!

If customs duties are assessed, these are in addition to your shipping charges and must be paid directly by you. No refunds will be given for items that are seized at your local customs office. Nicholas Smith Trains will not be held liable for any customs duties or taxes that arise from your local customs office, nor will we be held responsible for any additional fees the local carrier in your country may charge.

** We will combine items to save you money whenever possible.

** We generally charge 1-2 dollars for packing and handling. However, larger items or an sale with multiple items (a train set for example) may incur a larger handling fee. If you check my response you will see manycomments about the quality of my packaging. However I remind you good packing takes time and costs money.

** When shipping via UPS we are not able to ship to P.O. or A.P.O Boxes. An actual street address is required.

PAYMENT POLICIES

** If you win multiple items do not pay until you have received an invoice from me combining shipping and handling costs.

** Full payment of invoice is expected within 7 days of sending your invoice. If we do not receive your payment in that time frame and you have not notified us of special circumstances, we will use the Non Paying buyer Alert system to remind you of your obligation.

** Payment - We prefer PayPal.

** Pick-up at Nicholas Smith Trains, 2343 West Chester Pike, Bromall, PA 19008 with the option of additional payment arrangements can be accommodated.

** Pennsylvania residents will pay 6% Pennsylvania Sales Tax. If you are a Pennsylvania business and have an exemption certificate you must contact me directly before the close of the sale to make arrangements to place your exemption certificate on file. Failure to forward you certificate as required will result in your being charged sales tax.

** We generally leave response after response is received from the purchaser.** All sales are final and items are sold \"as is\" so please ask questions before offerding. Unfortunately I am not able to be an expert on everything that has ever been made, but do my best to accurately describe each item. That being said, we are not unreasonable.
