Ancient Chinese Neolithic Jar - Yangtze Culture - Circa 3000-2000 BC
Pottery with painted decoration is among the most remarkable of the archaeological remains from Neolithic cultures that flourished along the banks of the Yellow River. Interesting painted abstract designs symbolize possibly river waves or mountains. Scholars are still trying to analyze these early, mainly agricultural cultures.
Amazingly intact after almost 5000 years ! No repairs, paint all original. Thinly potted, with beautiful, burnished surface with only a couple of small chips (see photos). Measures 10\" tall x 10\" wide.
