Up for sale is a very rare original antique Civil War U.S. Navy Cutlass sword sabre model 1860 and made by Ames Manufacturing in 1862. This is an original sword from the civil war. Marked on the lower part of the blade "1862, USN, D.R." and then on the other side with the Ames logo and name The guard is also marked with the numbers "723M & 49". Handle is made of leather and is in nice condition with a couple nicks. The guard is made of brass and copper and also in very nice shape. The blade is in nice shape with no cracks, no nicks, no chips, no repairs and has not been over sharpened. It has surface spots and some surface rust from over the years as seen in the photos. I have not tried to clean it but I am sure it will clean up and polish. This is overall a very nice original unrestored example of this sword. Measures approx. 32" long and the blade measures approx. 26" long. Weight unpacked is 2 1/2 pounds. Very rare original Civil War sword  and is a must for any collector. Found at a recent 80 year estate of a long time Marine Officer and have been safely stored away. The glare spots are from the lights reflection and NOT on the actual surface of the item(color is great). Good luck and feel free to email me with any questions.
