Phenomenal and very unique French silk brocade from the 18thc- 19thc. This was a fabulous and rare find from Aquitaine, France. It is a somewhat larger scale pattern of lovely vining flowers on a sort of ruched/gathered/puckered type aged ground. The hues are magnificent and very old world. It has the look of embroidery throughout. The ground sort of varies in it\'s density of color and is in the pale almost apricot family, not really an ivory. It has a fabulous aged type patina. It is a strong silk which has a tad bit of weight to it actually. It\'s the type of piece that if making a boudoir pillow for example, it would be grand stuffed with feathers (for that early floppy type look) and trimmed with early French bobbles and trim, passementerie, tassels etc..it has an exquisite early sbabby French essence to it. It can be used for anything from pillows to decorative upholstery, windows, period bodices, corsets & costumes, reticules/purses (if lined), crazy patchwork type quilts and an abundance of vintage projects. Would intermix beautifully with old world velvets & metallics as well.Condition is good and strong ; again this is a cloth that will have an aged look and patina and some overall hue variation throughout from time & elements giving it it\'s own very unique distinct character. It actually appears fairly clean though I doubt it has been cleaned for a very long time.Measures a nice 41 inches wide by 20 inches tall ~ I have 12 to offer and can keep as many as a quantity of 5 uncut. Each quantity increases the length, width of 41 inches remains the same. One would yield a few pillows or a great table piece, quite a few small projects etc...Many thanks!
