Up for sale is this 1915, hallmarked, Solid Sterling Silver WW1 trenchwatch & 35mm case by FrancoisBorgel. In the 1880s Francois Borgel invented a one piece case whicheliminated the back case joint and ensured better sealing - it was certainlydust resitant but not however,waterproof. The movement isscrewedinto the case for better locationonto acarrier ring.This watchhas an extended stem and an onion crownso that it was easier to wind andset with bulkyuniformjacket cuffs. The case is a good sizemeasuring 35mm in diameter and being in good to fair condition with signs ofwear and a small flat spot to the outer rim! The inside bearsa fullhallmark, .925 1915 import mark including the FBand key logo of FrancoisBorgel and the GS initials of importer andUK assaysponsor. The beautifuloriginal white enamel dial is in fair condition for its age having a fewhairlines. The clean looking Jewelled pinsetmovement is in full workingorder setting and running as it should!
