Antique Banjo Clock Circa 1840-1850
Price: US $428.00

Beautiful early antique banjo clock likely made between 1840-1850. This clock has some bumps and bruises but they only add character to this old clock. The clock appears to be all original with the exception of the dial. The dial is signed E. Howard and Co. and does not look old to me. I do not believe this is an E. Howard clock but I am not a expert on clocks. I have searched the Internet and it looks to be a George Hatch Banjo clock. Again, I am not an expert and you should decide for yourself. The glass in the waste, throat, and bezel are wavy and show imperfections like old glass. The waste glass has been touched up for paint loss at some point. The weight box is made of wood, not metal. That appears to also be a trait of the Hatch banjos. The movement looks operational and clean and is held in place by a center bolt. The weight is missing so I have no way of testing the clock. It looks like all of the pivot points in the movement have been bushed due to wear. This clock was obviously used and did not sit on a wall just for looks. I believe with a weight you would have a fully functional clock that would last another 150 years or more, or just hang it on the wall and just enjoy the beauty of these old clocks.
