I believe this is an 1840\'s Sheffield Bowie Knife. Made in England for the pioneers that explored the West in the USA. In length, it measures 13 inches, the guard is 3.5 inches wide. it is in excellent condition considering it\'s age. As I said in the title, I\'m not sure it\'s a Sheffield, but there is writing and a \"W\" inside a six point star on the blade below the guard.
