Hereis a fairly scarceantique 8 1/2\' (3/2)Acmerod that was built by Charles Wheeler probably built in the mid to late 1880\'s sold through either John P. Moore\'s Sons or Schoverling , Daly, and Gales. The last photo shows an ad in aJune 30th 1887 issue of Forest & Stream. (Ad is not included in sale).It is marked on the butt cap, \"Acme Split Bamboo Rod Co. - New York\", but the \"New York\" has faded away.Thebutt section measures 31 7/8\". The midsection is 34 5/8\" and the tips are 34 5/8\" and 34 1/2\". The butt was obviously broken near the ferrule at some point and shortened andthe spike on the midsections male ferrule was removed (see photo 11).The butt ferrule is loose and has a silver solder seam splitting open about 3/8 (see photo 10)\", and would have to be re-glued.There are no guides left on the butt section but all the other double standing ring guides are present as are the tip tops.A few of the guides are bent a little and one of the tip top guides has been crushed a bit. The finish is in dried outfair dull condition with varnish chipping. The ferrule wraps on the midsection are replacements. I don\'t see any bamboo damage or delamination.The metalwork is German Silver. The ferrules need to be cleaned up to seat them all the way. The bottom of the butt cap has been pushed in a bit.(see photo 11) The rattan grip is solid and in goodcondition with somevarnish chipping.There is no bag or tube but it will be packed well.
