Porcelain with high-fired celadon glaze
Height: 33.8 cm / 13.3 in (with lid); 28.6 cm / 11.3 in
From a Palm Beach, FL private collection A very rare early 18th c Jingdezhen monochrome celadon jar, of a well-proportioned baluster form nearly identical to those seen on Kangxi period blue and whites. Its high fired celadon glaze is truly wonderful: luminous, radiant, and thick-- full of transcendental, jade-like beauty (see pictures taken under natural lighting, which best show the vase as it appears in reality). The glaze stops very neatly at the foot, which is a defining feature of 18th c monochromes.Hardwood lid included.Condition:Perfect antique condition with later hardwood lid. The interior has an original firing flaw, and the rim has a very tiny hard-to-see fleabite.[Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition of Sale 1.
