This is a Wonderful Example of a 32 lb Solid Shot Cannonball fired from a Smooth-bore SeaCoast Gun and Dug by the Edge of the James River in Richmond, Virginia. The location tells us little of whether this Heavy old Solid Cannonball was Union or Confederate. Although the Union was mainly using them Prior to the War they continued to use them in Coastal Situations because the Ball would Skip Across the Water to Hit Chips or other targets. The Confederacy also used this type of Ball through out the war as they were using many outdated guns.There is light oxidation and age wear to the finish although it is as solid as can be and is not in danger of further falling apart. This solid old Cannonball would be a Welcome addition to any Collection & is Guaranteed to be 100% Authentic. 6.25\" in diameter and Weighs in at just under 32 lbs due to age wear etc.
