* ANTIQUE AMERICAN IDEAL TEDDY BEAR *
This precious teddy bear is an authentic early 15\" Ideal Teddy Bear made by the American Ideal Company in circa 1907. He is one of the rarely found early Ideal teddies with rust-colored stitched features. Teddy has some age-related wear and being over 100 years old it is not bad! We would say he is in overall good strong condition as described in detail below:His mohair is an apricot color and he retains approx. 75% of it (see photos). There is a bald spot on his right leg at the ankle, left leg at thigh where the fabric has small holes, but fabric is still strong with no leakage. There are also thinning/bald areas on his face, left upper arm and shoulder with some fabric wear. His floss stitching on his nose and mouth are original with a few threads missing on the nose. All four pads on his paws and feet are original with minor moth damage, but solid. His stitching is a little loose on his left foot and a few stitches are missing on his right paw, the rest are intact. His ears are attached, but have a few threads on the bottom have come loose, easy to fix.Teddy has a very appealing SWEET POUTY FACE with a nice long snout and a hump on his back! He is in overall good, strong condition. He is excelsior and kapok stuffed and his joints work well and move loosely which make him pose nicely when displayed. He has a mild musty odor only noticeable when you put your nose to him. I mention everything (note: the dealer who sold it to me said \"no odors\"). This bear has small areas of fabric wear as described and seen, but there is no leaking and the fabric is still strong with no dry rot. This type of early Ideal bear is very desirable to antique bear collectors. He is seen next to the antique teddy bear reference book \"Teddy Bear Treasury\" by Ken Yenke for comparison to the bear on the cover–who is an identical teddy in excellent condition valued at $3,500 in the book. Please review all photos that describe him best seen from all angles. He will come with his antique muslin 48-star American flag seen in the photos. Good luck offerding!TERMS: Paypal accepted.
