Offering a very nice antique/vintage SIGNED Inupiaq (Inupiat, Eskimo, Alaskan Native American Indian) coiled lidded baleen basket, attributed to HUBERT KOONUK (1911 - 1994, Point Hope, Alaska). Coiled in close stitch, narrow weft with a flanged hand-carved finial depicting a polar bear with scrimshaw detailing filled with black pigment. Signed on the interior circular starter piece of the basketry body: H. K. / Pt. Hope/ Ak.
