Up for sale is a pair of J.R. McChesney pattern # 2 spurs. Obviously, this pattern is one of McChesney\'s earliest styles and probably the most simplistic. The spurs are unmarked therefore made in either Gainesville, TX, or Pauls Valley, OK. I would guess that these probably date pretty early on in the history of McChesney spur-making. These are quite small almost leading one to believe they are lady\'s spurs, but they are men\'s. The single-mounted heel bands\' width varies from shank to buttons with the overall width being 1/4 inch. The shanks are 1 1/2 inch long. The 6-point rowels are 1 1/2 inch in diameter. The heel bands measure 2 1/2 inches from button to button. The rowels are a bit of a mystery. They certainly don\'t match any McChesney rowel pattern, and the logical answer is that they are replacements. I suppose the original rowels could have been modified, but that seems a bit of a stretch. However, it they are replacements, whoever did it was good as there really isn\'t any visible evidence of a new rowel pin and cover. So I will leave it to you to come up with the answer to the puzzle. Please share your ideas. Good luck on your offerding.
