A store was opened by Toyo Morimura in New York City in order for Morimura brothers to export hand painted porcelain dinnerware and decorative items to the United States. This antique vase carries the blue maple leaf mark which was first used by Nippon in 1891.DESCRIPTIONThis listing is for an antique marked Nippon with the blue maple leaf mark hand painted porcelain chocolate pot and lid set with a hand painted rose flower motif and hand painted gold gilt and gold beading.The mold used for the body of the chocolate pot is vertically lobed with a scalloped rim. There are four cartouche windows set equidistance from each other, and centered on the highest point on the lobes, around the upper portion of the body of the chocolate pot. Each cartouche window carries a hand painted rose flower in gold gilt. Colorful pink rose flowers surround the windows. Smaller cartouche windows with gold beading complete the motif. The bottom edge of the chocolate pot is also fluted and decorated with gold gilt beading, pink rose flowers, and hand painted gold gilt trim. The handle of the vase is done in gold gilt and carries an acanthus style leaf which matches the acanthus styles leaves in gold gilt which decorate the body of the chocolate pot. The lid is original to this chocolate pot and carries a center finial surrounded by coordinating rose flower and gold gilt decoration.The bottom of the chocolate pot carries the blue maple leaf.CONDITIONThis antique Nippon Old Noritake hand painted flower vase is in wonderful condition. The hand painted porcelain is free of any signs of damage such as chocolate pot and lid set is in overall wonderful condition. The chocolate pot itself is free of any signs fo damage such as chips, cracks, flea bites, and repairs. The gold gilt trim and shows very little if any signs of wear. There is one area of damage to the inside lower edge of the lid. There is a chip on the border of the inside edge which a craze line extending downwards approximately 1/2 inch. This area cannot be seen when the lid is in place and is pictured in the photographs below.This antique Nippon chocolate pot and lid set has come from a smoke free estate collection and is odor free.~SHIPPING COSTS~ The shipping costs to the lower 48 states is $15.00 for this item.
