Up for sale is an extremely rare antique twined Haida Northwest Coast Native American berry basket featuring reddyed horizontal bands circumventing the basket\'s wall (instead of the moretypical black or greenish-brown ) and a thick horizontal band of skip-stich/twill twining along the basket\'s rim of a raised design. Fashioned from spruce root. Dates likely from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Overall in fine condition for its age, and retains its original form. There is one break roughly 2\"-long that has been repaired at some point in its life. There are also two pin-size holes that are likely the result of an original strap. One of the finest woven examples of Haida basketry that has ever come up to sale! Basket measures just under 4-1/2\" H, 4-1/4\" D\" at the bottom and 4-1/2\" D at the top.
