Antique Stoneware: Flint Enamel Book Flask, Lyman & Fenton, Bennington VT, 1850s
Price: US $358.58

An earthenware pottery Book-Form Figural Flask entitled \"Departed Spirits\", attributed to Lyman, Fenton & Co., Bennington, Vermont, ca.1848-1858. This is a HTF large size example by this maker with a capacity of over 1-Quart. Covered in an attractive Flint Enamel Glaze in mottled shades of Brown and Cream with Greenish-Blue flecks. Wonderful molded details throughout: raised spine bands, realistic stitching near headcap & tail, combed pages and applied circular pour spout. Aptly embossed: DEPARTED SPIRITS beneath the glaze, mid-spine. A very desirable cross-collectible that will complement any Flask, Bottle or American Stoneware collection.

Condition: Shallow chip on cover edge (upper rear), as shown; otherwise Excellent with fine multi-color Flint Enamel glaze. Displays brilliantly in a bookshelf or cupboard. See photos for complete details and please consider them as part of the description. I believe this is the largest size Book Flask they made in Bennington. Measures approximately 8\"H x 5-7/8\"D x 2-5/8\"W overall; weighs 2lb. 10oz.
