This brooch is made of solid 18k yellow gold, and is very heavy in metal value alone at over 700 dollars, not including antique or jewelry value. The design would have been hand sketched on paper and then hand assembled together to create this beautiful piece. The design is much in the style of the Retro era Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef, & Cartier spray jewelry. This brooch can be worn in several ways including as a traditional brooch orfastened to a scarf as well. Your jeweler can also easily add a bale to make it into a pendant.
The brooch features the traditional spray pattern that is highly sought after with looping patterns going around the whole of the brooch. In the center of the brooch is a ribbon pattern, a staple of Retro era jewelry. Set into the ribbon pattern are claw prong set natural cabochon cut midnight blue sapphires. The sapphires when held up to the light give off a beautiful internal matrix. They show no obvious signs of treatment.
