ITEM: You are offerding on a stunning sleek and huge modernist C. 1930 Art Deco Manning Bowman machine age industrial design streamlined antique electric clock. Conceived in a well-appointed handsome and stylish art deco sleek industrial decorative design aesthetic. In fine cosmetic condition,the movement is not original - this clock would have been housed with a Hammond spin to start movement which are still pretty easy to find as Hammond clocks were wildly popular during the 1930s. This has been fitted with an old movement that has been placed into the case and runs perfectly as such. This runs very well and seems to keep accurate time, as of this listing, it has been running for the past several hours... No guarantees for the future but currently this is in smooth running condition and runs quietly and seemingly effortlessly.
This dates to around 1930, Manning Bowman produced the elaborate case, but they purchased the original spin to start movement that this model would have had from the Hammond Clock Company.
The case is butterscotch highly figured swirled catalin and chromium plated nickel - with a handsome machine age case and bezel. We sold a green catalin companion Manning Bowman clock last month on please note this is not the same clock!
Measures just under 9 3/4\" tall by 10 1/4 \" across, by 3 3/4\" deep weighing an impressive 8 lbs., 6 ounces & by all accounts The Rolls Royce of art deco electric clocks!
