Thank you for having a look at my sales. We are very excited this week to be featuring our first offering of items from the Important estate collection of the late Michael Vermeer. Mr. Vermeer is literally a famous figure when it comes to Chinese ceramics starting his career in the late 1960s in his early 20s. With close to 50 years experience Mr. Vermeer was thought by many to be one of the worlds top Chinese ceramic experts and authorities. Celadon, Monochrome, and Flambe wares were Mr. Vermeer’s passion and over the years Mr. Vermeer was commissioned by top world museums and sale houses to appraise and accurately identify important works of Chinese art. Examples from the Vermeer collection can be found in top collections, sold at top sale houses, and in books all over the world. This is session one featuring some incredible and rarely found examples from the Vermeer’s collection. I believe this is one of our finest sales to date. You very rarely see estate collections of this amazing quality and size come up for sale, a sale not to be missed!

Up for sale is a Very Rare c1940 Chinese Painting of Frogs by the Important and prolific Chinese artist Qi Baishi. This painting is fully guaranteed to be an authentic original work by the artist. This painting was appraised a number of years ago by Christies sale as being an authentic original work, and at the time a conservative sale estimate of 15-20,000 was given. The painting is done on paper consistent with the period and of that used by Qi Baishi. The painting is then finely mounted in silk. The painting has good provenance, I cannot read the side writing myself but I am told the writing indicates the painting was gifted during the 1940s period from a professor to a student, or student to the professor. I am told this professor is well known and if researched can be found online. The frame, backing, everything is consistent with the period and is in undisturbed original condition. There is an old label on the back but for the most part it is illegible. The painting is in fine condition with no damage. The painting itself not including frame of silk boarder has a site measurement of 11 1/2 inches tall, by 8 inches wide. The painting framed measures 15 inches tall, by 11 inches wide. I believe this is likely one of the only authentic works by Qi Baishi that has been offered on for some time. It is well worth taking some time to see what current values are of such examples by this important artist. A rare opportunity that should not be missed!
