Beautiful and Uncommon WWI Era Turkish Officer’s German Made Sword
Price: US $352.00

The sword appears to be based on the unique Bavarian officers’sword pattern with “D” guard and langets. The slightly-curved blade measures 32inches, the sword measuring 37.5 inches overall. The blade bears the WKC logoon the obverse ricasso. The blade is ornately acid-etched on either side withfoliate scroll and panoplies or arms ending approximately 18 inches from thetip. Acid-etched within the decorative panel on the obverse side is the Turkishretailer/distributor mark “ONNIK & Co. BRODEURS DE LA COUR IMPERIALECONSTANTINOPLE”. The reverse side of the blade bears an acid-etched Turkishcrescent and star design. The gilded hilt is ornately decorated, each langetwith the Turkish star and crescent. The handle appears to be celluloid-coveredwood with ornate wire wrapping. The metal scabbard is plated and has twomounting rings. The sword is in very good condition with a smooth gray patinaon the blade, with traces of gilt remaining on the hilt. A bit of minorcracking to the celluloid near the pommel. A few trivial areas of loss to theplating on the scabbard and with a small shallow dent near the drag. An attractive and uncommon sword.
