BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE FRENCH TAPESTRY PANEL UNUSED c1890 CHAIR SEAT OR CUSHION

Dating from the late 1800s this is a beautiful antique French tapestry panel that has never been used and was simply stored away. I have been involved in a chateau hotel refurbishment and this was discovered in the attics from the remains of the original contents.Most probably a seat for a salon chair it could now be used in any decorative period projects and would be superb again for a seat cushion or could be used to make a cushion pad.It is a strong wool and silk weave.The colours are very easy on the eye with Aubusson hues.The background is creamy eau de nil and the design is woven in pinks, saffron, rose pinks,peach and burgundy.The design is a frame of acanthus leaf scrolls and curls tied at the top with a ribbon bow with tumbling ties. Just inside the border are flower swags, the next border a garland vine and the inner design a bouquet of roses and country blooms.It is more than strong enough for an upholstery project again.Overall size width 67cms length 64cmsDesign size only. Width 46cms Length 46cmsI have one more panel from the same location listed in my other items.It is dusty from storage and should freshen with a cold hand wash if required.All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique.
