Beautiful Konica III M 35mm rangefinder camera (half and full frame)These cameras came out in 1960, when half-frame still had a following. It was sold with a mask that could be inserted into the film plane to convert from full frame to half frame operation. The mask covered all but the center 18mm of the film aperture and set an internal lever that changed the film advance to single stroke (full frame required two strokes). When I found it the half frame mask was missing. Apparently this is pretty common. To restore the camera to its full historic functionality, I found a picture of the old mask online and fabricated a substitute out of thin brass stock. I tested the mask on film (see linked image below) and found that it worked fine, though my test was at an aperture of about f/11. Larger lens apertures (it goes to f/1.8) would be a better test because of the reduced depth of focus. So assume it\'s more of a fun thing to have than a perfect substitute for the original. The photos give a good idea of the overall beautiful condition. The glass and coating look perfect, but on very close examination with the light from the right angle one can see a small area of sub-2mm scratches on the front element (see red arrow in photo 3). There is minimal internal dust and debris. There is a tiny dot of missing chrome on the camera front (photo 3) and a thin crack on the frame of the selenium light meter cell (photo 3). The light meter does not respond. The shutter and self-timer work crisply (all speeds) though the actual speeds are untested. The rangefinder is accurate but very slightly out of vertical alignment. There are some worn/scratched areas on the chrome edge of the lens front due to the placement of the lens cap (photo 7). The lens cap has two worn areas (see arrows in photo 2).Shipping
