Up for sale with is a fabulous very large 19th Century French Silvered Bronze Statue depicting a beautiful partially nude Native Indian Maiden in a Canoe. The Figure features amazing detail throughout, especially to the Canoe which is covered with a Fish Net, Flowers etc. The young Native Maiden is especially beautiful with a Feather Headdress and holding a large Paddle. The Figure is solid Bronze with a nice Silvered Patina. This model is known as Femme Indienne dans sa Piroque and is signed Duchoiselle. The Artist is French but ittle is known of Duchoiselle (including his Christian name), other than that he is documented as having executed ceiling reliefs for both the Louvre and Charles Garnier\'s Paris Opéra in 1882. The Statue is in substantially fine condition for the age with no breaks, cracks or losses. The Silvered finish to the Bronze is worn as seen but I am sure most an Antique of this age would show wear and it is a good sign that is in an Antique example as there are modern reproductions of this model, being so famous and all. You could have it re-silvered but I like my antiques to look antique. The Statue is quite large and impressive measuring19 inches long by11-3/4 inches tall and would look incredible displayed anywhere in a Home or Corporate setting, This Bronze is too large to ship with any other item but do be sure to check all our other sales, we haveover 150amazing Estate Treasures listed including more Bronzes andsomeincredible Sterling Silver.
