Beautiful! Vintage Antique 1800\'s Wired Silk Bonnet Hat!
This is a beautiful bonnet from the 1800\'s. It is made of golden beige silky fabric, and has wire construction with a little skirt opening at the back. It is embellished with gathers and ruffles, a large bow at the top of the crown, and lace to frame ones face. The lace appears white with a hint of gray to me, but surprisingly shows up blue in the photos.
No label, and the lining (cheesecloth) is almost gone. It has long ties to secure it under the chin and a little tie under the skirt at the back.
It is in amazing condition for its age-very clean overall- with only a few tiny pin size holes to the silk which are not noticeable. The interior where the cheesecloth once was has stains-not seen if worn- and the silk ties have a few tiny splits. The lace at the front also shows some age- probably has faded some with time and is a little frayed in places. Truly a gorgeous bonnet created by someone a very long ago who was very, very skilled. A little treasure, and Perfect for the collector!
