British WW1 Period \'Tommy\'s Treasure\' First Aid Kit
Price: GB $70.87

An interesting vintage, period private purchase first aid kit called the Tommy\'s Treasure. Given it\'s apparent age and reference to \'troops in the field\', it is seemingly Great War period.

The kit consists of a silvered tin box with what appears to be the majority of its original contents (judging by the list on the Instructions for Use - see picture). The contents are a bundle of safety pins, a couple of bandages - one still retaining a deal of its wrapping - cotton tape, and a blue pack of could be lint. It also retains its Instructions for Use and an endorsement from The Practitioner magazine which claims that the kit \"should prove of great service to troops in the field\".

Condition is generally fairly sound over all, although there is marking and spotting all over the external surfaces. To the interior are areas of rust. There is also a crack to one corner, yet this doesn\'t stop - with care - the tin being firmly closed. Please see the images to satisfy yourself as to condition.

Box dimensions are: 9 x 10.5 x 3 cm approx.

Age-wise, the reference \"troops in the field\" implies that the war is still on - although which it can\'t be said. The lack of a numbered postcode (introduced in early 1917) in the address though suggests WWI. The Practitioner was founded in 1868. I can\'t find any reference to The Handyman Co. anywhere, which seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Ultimately, this box is sold as a collectable and may therefore show signs of use andimperfections which are not necessarily noted in the description.
